The Devil In The White City (313-390)

Summary
On October 9, 1893 which was a monday, they had became a big success because many people attended which was a bit unexpected. It was estimated that about 300,000 had arrived at the fair at that point. A lot of things were cancelled in order to make sure that th fair would not have anything to stop it from succeeding. Many people enjoyed the Jackson Park which was near Holmes's hotel. In a day approximately 713,646 people entered Jackson Park. After Burham learned that millions of people attended the fair, he was full with felicity because the fair had exceed the Paris's expositon world record. The debts that were owed by the fair organizers were paid. October 30 was the last day of the fair, many people who participated on its construction felt that the fair was a great accomplishment and something that would be memorable. After the fair many people went back to being unemployed and the city went back to the way it was. Violence became something that was unavoidable. Holmes as well wanted to leave Chicago because many families were pressuring him. He burned the first floor of his hotel and the company paid him for the damages. One of the investigators from the company, Hiram S. Campbell became suspecious of the fire. Attorney chamberlain was the firtst to think of Holmes as a criminal  and he trapped through his meetings. During the meeting Holmes fled because he was able to dazzle an attorney to tell him the other attorney's plans which was to arrest him. When the police catched Holmes for fraud, it led them to discover that Holmes mudered his assistant's children which led them to find out that he was a serial killer.

Reaction
I think detective Geyer's comment was absurd because what else would someone expect from a cheater, a killer, and a monster. No one would just confess their crimes when they know that there  is a punishment that comes with it. If he wanted people to know about his wrongdoings, he would not hide the bodies. I think Holmes was a heartless monster. He had reasons to kill people but there were not justified. He killed people for money for example the kids he killed in order to get the insurance money.
